Player Profile - Sandra Gall

This week we highlight the budding career of the German golfer Sandra Gall, who is taking the golfing world by storm. Born in Dusseldorf, Germany Gall was the only child of a family who encouraged her interest in the game of golf. Having held a golf club for the first time at the age of five, her passion for the game grew during her teens when she started applying herself to the hours of practice that golf training entails.

As a teenager Gall was not only becoming a fine amateur golfer, but was encouraged to participate in many sporting and cultural activities, including wakeboarding, ballet and playing the violin. The well-rounded young lady who joined the German national team at the age of eighteen would show Germany and later the world that focus and dedication always pays off.

After high school Gall studied in the United States, attending the University of Florida. On the US college golf circuit, she represented her school proudly, winning two All-American Honours in three years. After finishing her degree, she received her LPGA tour card for the 2008 season and has been playing on the tour ever since.

2008 saw Gall finding her feet on the LPGA tour, with impressive results. Making 18 cuts in 22 events, she carded 5 top-25 finishes to establish herself as a serious contender and prove that she had made the leap from college golf to the professional league.

The following season Gall improved her game even further, carding 9 top-20 finishes and 2 finishes in the top 10. 2010 was similarly successful, though a tournament win was still illusive. On 27 March of this year, Gall won her first title at the Kia LPGA Open – confirming her place among the stars of LPGA golf. Gall is an avid artist and musician, and has flaunted her good looks in several magazines and photo shoots. Combining golfing excellence with celebrity appeal, she draws fans from far and wide.
